 Managing Director Olympic Programs Delta Air Lines • Senior Vice President Marketing International Olympic Committee • Co-President Global Sports, Teneo Holdings • Founder, Owner and CEO Helios Partners, LLC Mr. Burns is one of the most accomplished and successful global sporting event bid consultants in the world. He served as lead brand and strategic consultant for 13 Olympic bids (five successful – Beijing 2008, Vancouver 2010, Sochi 2014, PyeongChang 2018, and served as CMO of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic bid). He also served on the successful Russia 2018 and United 2016 FIFA World Cup bids. Mr.  Burns also created the strategic brand narrative and the final presentation for the Qatar 2030 Asian Games bid.

Mr. Burns has a long history in Olympic marketing and international sports communications as a sponsor, as a senior executive for the IOC, and as a consultant.

Mr. Burns works with clients as varied as Allianz, the Australian Soccer Association, Samsung, Petro Canada, the City of Moscow, BHP Billiton, TNT China, Bell Canada, Nissin Foods, and the International Olympic and Paralympic Committees to name but a few.

As an Olympic sponsor at the ’96 Games in Atlanta, Mr. Burns was responsible for the planning and implementation of Delta Air Lines’ highly successful sponsorship.

Based on Delta’s Olympic success, Burns joined the IOC’s marketing agency in 1996, serving as Meridian’s Senior Vice President – Marketing and Sponsor Servicing. In this role, he was responsible for a team that managed the day-to-day marketing relationships with the IOC’s global TOP Partners. While at Meridian, Burns also spearheaded the first-ever global assessment of the Olympic Brand, resulting in the IOC’s first brand image campaign, “Celebrate Humanity.

Mr. Burns also served as the lead bid consultant for Golf and Wrestling’s return to the Olympic Games and served as Managing Director Consumer Communications for NASCAR in 2003.

Burns is a graduate of Emory University (BBA) and Georgia State University (MBA) in Atlanta Georgia.
