About the event
Mary Katherine Rand, Executive Director of The Mary Parrish Center, has dedicated her career to working with families and children who have experienced violence in their lives. She has served the Nashville community for more than 20 years.
Mary Katherine has spent over half of her career helping survivors of interpersonal violence and their children at The Mary Parrish Center where she began on staff as the resident therapist. As her career advanced, she took on larger roles at the center serving residents as both Director of Transitional Housing and Associate Director. In 2018, Mary Katherine was asked to serve The Mary Parrish Center as Executive Director where she has worked diligently to transform the organization since. In her time as Executive Director, the organization has more than quadrupled its size, adding 3 new programs and completing a total renovation of their 10,000 sq ft. transitional housing property.
Mary Katherine is a Licensed Advanced Practice Social Worker and holds a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee and a bachelor’s degree from Rhodes College. Prior to her time at The Mary Parrish Center, she served as an in-home therapist, providing therapy to families suffering the effects of complex traumas. Mary Katherine is a member of Nashville’s Coalition to End Domestic Violence and has served as their President and Board Chair. She has also served on Nashville’s Homelessness Planning Council.
