About the event

Lorenzo Washington is the nationally/internationally known Founder/Curator of Jefferson Street Sound Museum. Lorenzo Washington is preserving the rich history, musical traditions and well-known landmarks of Historic Jefferson Street, it has become his life’s calling, and his efforts continue to excite music enthusiasts all over the world. Lorenzo Washington created the Jefferson Street Sound genealogy tree showing the night clubs and legendary artists who came through the ” original music row.” Lorenzo Washington is keeping the legacy alive through the collection of information and artifacts documenting the history of jazz, soul, and rhythm and blues in North Nashville. Back in the day 1940’s-1970’s.

In the early 1970’s, Washington embraced his passion for music by founding Soul Shack Records and Boutique. In 1976, he partnered with Moses Dillard and Jesse Boyce from Dillard & Boyce Productions, which was originally located on Nashville’s Music Row. The trio released a single titled” Come on Dance” by the Saturday Night Band that reached #2 on the charts.

Washington turned his passion of preserving “back in the day” music into the Jefferson Street Sound Museum. The JSS Museum is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization that bridges historical preservation, and an impact on today’s music and entertainment with a full-service recording studio.
