About the event
Rich Sanderson has been a sought-after docent at the Ryman Auditorium Museum since retiring
from General Motors in 2017. He is frequently asked to provide personal tours for VIP guests
visiting the Grand Ole Opry.
Before becoming a docent, Rich enjoyed a 40-year career with General Motors. He began as a
Supply Chain Manufacturing Manager, following earlier roles in Human Resources and Finance.
In 1990, he relocated from Buffalo, New York—known for its heavy snowfall—to Nashville to
help open the Saturn Manufacturing Center.
Rich is deeply involved in his community. He serves as a lay leader at Woodmont Christian
Church, where he has held roles as Elder and Deacon Chairman. He also provides leadership for
the Green Street Church Sanctuary for the Homeless and Walk Thru Bethlehem.
Rich has been married to Mary Margaret McDonough for 38 years. They have two children:
Grace Anne, who works in tech startups in San Francisco, and Schuyler, who works in fintech in
New York City.
