About the event
Dorinda Carter serves as Director of Communications and Public Relations for the Tennessee Department of Correction. Â Prior to joining TDOC, Dorinda was an Emmy award-winning journalist at television stations in Nashville, and TV stations in Indiana and Kentucky. She also served as Communications Director and Chief of Staff for the Nashville District Attorney's Office.
Dorinda is founder of a prison reentry program at the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center designed for women who have survived lives of abuse, addiction, prostitution, and trafficking.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Broadcast Journalism from Western Kentucky University. A Master of Arts Degree in Civic Leadership from Lipscomb University and a Ph.D. in Organizational Development from Carolina University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
