About the event
Her 25 year career at the Nashville Sheriff’s Office has included being the Treatment Supervisor at the Day Reporting Center (DRC - an alternative sentencing program) in 1999, the Jail Administrator at the Offender Re-entry Center (ORC) in 2004, the Jail Administrator at the Correctional Development Center for Females (CDF) in 2006, and Training Director in 2008. In 2015, she returned to the facility side to once again assume the role of Facility Administrator at the CDF. In August of 2016, she was named Facility Administrator for the Maximum Correctional Center for Males (MCC). By 2023, she was serving as Facility Administrator for both MCC and CDF. In 2024, she was named Chief of Corrections – a position responsible for the oversight of all Davidson County jails. She has facilitated anger management and individual sex offender treatment groups for males incarcerated at the facility formerly named Woodland Hills Juvenile Detention and facilitated co-occurring treatment groups for the Nashville Public Defender’s Office.
In 2008 she co-authored an article entitled: “The Davidson County Jail for Females: A Modern-Day Crisis Center” which was published in Corrections Today. In 2010 she authored: “An Evolution from the Cradle to Life: Two Little Girl’s Journey to Life in Prison” published in Corrections.com. In 2012 she authored: “The Dating Game - Parts I & II” for Corrections.com and Corrections Today. In 2024, she published an article entitled: “Women in Leadership” for Corrections Today. In 2025, she authored a book entitled: “8 Steps to Freedom: Breaking Free from the Inside Out.”
She earned a dual bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Social Work in 1995 from Trevecca University. She next earned an advanced standing position in the accelerated master’s program offered at the University Of Tennessee College Of Social Work where she graduated with honors in 1996. For over 10 years, she has volunteered her time as a worship teacher/song leader at the Debra K Johnson Rehabilitation Center (formally named Tennessee Prison for Women) and for that work received the University of Tennessee’s Lucille Evans Dean Service Award in 2000. She became a Certified Jail Manager in 2004. She is currently a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). She holds the Correctional Behavioral Health certification from the American Correctional Association (ACA.) In 2022, she earned ACA’s highest correctional certification: Certified Corrections Executive (CCE). In 2025, she was appointed to ACA’s Commission on Accreditation for Corrections and to ACA’s Legislative and Government Affairs Commission. . She is a member of the Large Jail Network through the Department of Justice – National Institute of Corrections.
She continues to seek ways to learn, grow, and be impactful both personally and professionally.
