About the event
Bill Gibbons will speak to the Breakfast Club about "Effective Strategies to Reduce Crime in Tennessee." Bill is Executive Director at The Public Safety Institute at the University of Memphis. Previously, he served for 6 years as Commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security, appointed by Gov. Bill Haslam in 2011. Before that, he was District Attorney General in Memphis for 14 years. Before his tenure as District Attorney, Bill was a partner in the law firm of Evans & Petree, and served in part-time elective positions as a member of both the Memphis City Council and the Shelby County Commission.
Bill is married to Julia Smith Gibbons, a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He and Julia have two adult children.
