About the event
Apri Gassaway is the Director of Education at United Way of Greater Nashville (UWGN), providing vision, leadership, innovation and strategy to advance UWGN’s education agenda to position the organization as a solutions-oriented leader in the education space and ultimately serve as a catalyst for transformational life outcomes for our most vulnerable children and families.
With over 15 years of experience in the education nonprofit sector, Apri has led efforts in collective impact, programming, fundraising/external relations and policy. She previously served as the Senior Director of Postsecondary and Career Initiatives at Raise DC, where she led a collective impact effort that grew to 19 large and small local education agencies and community-based organizations, serving over 15,000 high school students in Washington, DC.
Prior to, Apri was the Executive Director of Academic Outcomes and Community Impact at the YMCA of Greater Charlotte, overseeing a birth to postsecondary access continuum of programs that support children and families.
Apri holds a master’s degree in education from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a bachelor’s degree in physics from Howard University. Apri enjoys self-care, outdoor entertainment, and spending time with her husband and spunky children, Abigail and Gabriel.
